A DYING husband has vowed to survive long enough to see his wife released from prison – after she tried to kill him three times.
Hayley Weatherall tried to murder Ray Weatherall in 2015 along with her lover, Glenn Pollard – who was also Ray’s best friend.
The pair’s numerous attempts on Ray’s life included shooting him in the face, conspiring to feed him a deadly cocktail of insulin and sleeping pills, and orchestrating a swimming pool heater explosion.
Ray, 59, had been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer, and the lovers had become frustrated when he hadn’t died quicker.
Now, Ray has revealed that he is “hanging on” until Hayley completes her minimum prison term in nine years’ time.
He told the Mirror: “This house is as much hers as it is mine. I can’t wait to have her back.
“People say I’m mad but I don’t care. I visit her each month and we kiss and hug and it is lovely.
“Hayley was brainwashed. She was a fool. She has always been easily led astray.
“We will have a big party when she’s out. It will be a big celebration.”
The scorned husband, who has now lived ten years longer than expected, makes 200-mile round trips to visit Hayley every month in prison.
She is serving a life sentence at HMP Bronzefield in Ashford, Surrey, with a minimum of 15 years.
Ray added that he will never be able to forgive Glen.
The former bouncer said he never wanted to see his ex best pal again, and that he would not be involved in any celebrations should he be released.
Glen also received a life sentence for his part in the crimes, with a minimum of 17 years.
Hayley and Ray had been together for nine years when the plot took place, after getting married in 2015 shortly before Ray’s diagnosis.
The mum-of-three had then struck up a relationship with Glen, with the pair exchanging naked pictures on WhatsApp.
As well as shooting and poisoning Ray, Hayley also considered pushing him overboard on a fishing trip, a court heard.
The shooting was carried out by Glen’s daughter Heather, 26, in Sandwich, Kent, with the bullet hitting Ray’s cheekbone.
Ray was rolling a cigarette on a break from helping his son Sam cut down a tree when he was blasted with the .22 hunting rifle.
Frustrated that he had survived, Hayley sent a text to Glen saying: “They didn’t do a very good job did they? He’s still here.”
Heather – known as Arthur after transitioning – had previously made internet searched for “Techniques on silent killing”, “Creative ways to kill someone” and “16 steps to kill someone and not get caught”.
After cops investigated the shooting, the three attempted killers were convicted at Maidstone Crown Court of conspiracy to murder in November 2018.
After the trial, the judge said: “This was cruelty of a high degree. Cold, calculated and chilling cruelty.
“You conspired to murder a man because you believed he stood in your way.
“Each of you plotted and planned to kill him with determination and persistence.”
