The WNBA Finals are underway, following a long and history-making season for women's basketball. The Minnesota Lynx and New York Liberty are squaring off for the championship title in a best-of-five match-up. Below, we've compiled everything you need to know about where to watch the Lynx vs. Liberty, including cable and streaming options.
The New York Liberty are competing in the finals once again after defeating the Las Vegas Aces in the semifinals. The Liberty previously fell to the Aces in the 2023 Finals, handing the Vegas team their second consecutive title. Now, the Liberty is attempting to score their first-ever championship title. To do so, they'll have to get through the Minnesota Lynx, who have four titles under their belt but haven't made it to the Finals since 2017.
At the helm of the two teams are Breanna Stewart (New York) and Napheesa Collier (Minnesota). Stewart won MVP last year, and Collier was named Defensive Player of the Year for the 2024 season. While the pair might be rivals on the Finals court, they're business partners and co-founders of Unrivaled, the new 3v3 women's basketball league scheduled to start in January 2025. They also helped lead Team USA to its eighth consecutive gold medal at the Summer Olympics.
Game 1 saw the Lynx pull off a 95-93 victory on the Liberty's home court. Although the Liberty had the lead for most of the first half, the Lynx caught up by the end of the fourth quarter. A tie sent the teams into overtime, which gave the Lynx a chance to cement the win. Game 2 will take place in New York again before the teams head to Minnesota for Game 3 and a potential Game 4. If the series makes it to Game 5, the teams will return to New York for one final clash.
