I can reveal the third series will see her soldiering on, with her and her team called to investigate a bomb threat that soon reveals itself to be the start of a sinister vendetta.
A source revealed: “Someone is targeting individuals, and demanding revenge.
“Working alongside the police counterterrorism unit, the bomb disposal squad race against time to find the bomber before they claim their next victim.”
Eric Shango, Nabil Elouahabi, Natalie Simpson and Maanuv Thiara are also back.
Vicky said: “We’re all so excited to get going. Having had such a positive response to the previous two series, we want to make the next one even more exciting, keep everyone on the edge of their seats whilst getting to know even more about the brilliant characters in the show.
“I’s a joy to play a role with as many layers as Lana.”
The second series, which aired in January, averaged 8.1 million viewers and was the second most watched drama on ITV1 this year after the award-winning Mr Bates vs The Post Office.
Producers Jed Mercurio thanked the “fantastic crew and brilliant cast” for making the show such a success. and said he was thrilled ITV had commissioned a third season.
The channel’s head of drama Polly Hill added: “There’s going to be lots more twists and turns and explosions. Viewers are going to love it!”
