What Rays fans need to know about these Hurricanes

And a brief personal note on the lack of content this week.

It’s been a terrible couple of weeks.

The Rays season did not end as we all wanted, but I had every intention of supporting the club for the final series of the year. My eldest had been begging to get to a game, but then came Helene’s floodwaters, and instead of sitting in Fenway Park the Sunday before last I was on flight with a ticket purchased at the last minute.

Hurricanes come for all in Florida, but this was a first. Family members had between 6 inches and 4 feet of flooding. We spent the next week ripping drywall, exposing standing brackish water, and laboring in the Florida heat.

I flew back home this weekend thinking the worst was behind us. Now, another hurricane is on the horizon. Thanks for your patience with content going up on the site, it’s been a weird and difficult time.

We know that Tropicana Field is being used as a base of operations for first supporters. The park is considered 15’ above sea level, which is concurrent with the height of the projected flooding coming this week.

• If you don’t know where to evacuate, Here is a list of shelters in the Tampa Bay area. If you are able to travel a distance, there are many Red Cross shelters throughout the state and beyond. Bring blankets and an air mattress, if you can, if you are utilizing a shelter.
