PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – The mother of a child who died of a suspected fentanyl overdose in Northeast Portland back in September was arrested Tuesday after officials reported she was on the run while “armed and dangerous.”
On Sept. 12, police responded to the Fox Run RV park on reports of a 2-year-old girl in “cardiac arrest.” The girl’s mother, 26-year-old Mary E. Jacobo, was nowhere to be found.
Family members told authorities Jacobo tried to perform CPR on her daughter before fleeing the area. The child, Aurora Fernandez, died in the hospital later that day.
In the weeks since her disappearance, Portland police reported that Jacobo may have committed several crimes such as robbing a vehicle at gunpoint.
Jacobo was arrested in Seaside, Oregon and lodged in Clatsop County Jail on numerous warrants Tuesday, Oct. 8. Authorities report Jacobo was in possession of a pistol at the time of her arrest.
A GoFundMe is available for those interested in supporting the remaining family.
