Sunday’s P6 tournament was held away from the hubbub of Mains Park in the wide open spaces of Linlithgow Leisure Centre. But there was nothing leisurely about the day’s rugby as we welcomed Currie, Lasswade, Biggar and Boroughmuir to the Royal Borough.
A packed schedule was well policed by our volunteer pitch coordinator and all the teams showed off their growing confidence with rucking and kicking.
Our first game was a spicy affair against Currie with the visitors fastest out of the blocks – but Linlithgow rallied well with some great broken field running.
Biggar were up next, Linlithgow opting to avoid the clash of red strips by turning out in our change strip of mismatched bibs. Unlike our bibs, the game was pretty evenly matched. A major highlight was a debut try for one of the newest players in the P6 team.
In our 3rd game, Lasswade were particularly sharp around the breakdown and really made the most of possession. Having said that, Linlithgow played some brilliant rugby with some neat footwork and a thrilling kick-chase from the Lowport trio bringing a try.
We brought the curtain down on a superb day of rugby with a spirited match against Boroughmuir. Both teams competed brilliantly and at the end of the match led a round of cheers for the opposition that caused a migratory flock of geese to change their plans.
All in all, a fantastic home tournament – well done P6!
