It could take time to implement all of the changes Atkinson wants to make. It will likely be a gradual process that we won’t see come fully together for a while. That said, you’d like to see some things that they’ve worked on in camp carry over to a game setting. It’s worth watching just to see if this team looks any different.
“We [want to] play the right way,” Donovan Mitchell said. “We’re playing to build these habits. . . . We’re only worried about ourselves [and want to] continue to work on what we’ve been working on.”
Jaylon Tyson has received a lot of praise from his teammates. Now, he’ll have a chance to show us why they believe in him so much.
Tyson was a good on-ball player in Summer League, but how does that translate over to playing against NBA competition? Tyson didn’t play well off-ball in Vegas, can that change in a more organized setting?
Similar questions could be asked about Luke Travers. Travers won’t be fighting for rotation minutes like Tyson could be, but you’d like to see a glimpse that shows that his game could translate over to the NBA.
We won’t know how these rookies seasons will go after watching one preseason game, but we should have a slightly better grasp on what to expect from both.
