CONCORD — A 22-year-old Concord man has been arrested on suspicion of murder following a disturbance at a gas station Sunday night that ended with another man dead, police said.
Authorities did not immediately identify the 33-year-old man who died, pending notification of the family. The homicide investigation is the first by Concord police since last December.
In a statement, Concord police Lt. Mark Robison said officers responded to the Bonfare Market in the 2800 block of Grant Street about 7:45 p.m. Sunday on reports of a disturbance involving a man hit by a vehicle. They later found enough evidence at the scene to suspect that the person in the vehicle hit the victim intentionally, Robison said.
Robison said officers arrested Alex Lazaro-Rosas and that he knew his victim. Police said they booked him into the Martinez Detention Facility, but his name was not listed in the jail records early Monday.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding the man’s death and urged anyone with information to contact Det. Justin Wilson at 925-671-5859.
