WATERVLIET, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Edith and Oscar Geronimo, the owners of Greenbush Salsa Latina in East Greenbush, are opening up another restaurant. Quechua Peruvian Restaurant will be in the former Teta Marie's Lebanese Restaurant space at 1297 Broadway in Watervliet.
In September, Teta Marie's owner Brenda Hage listed the space for sale and told NEWS10 that the restaurant would close after the sale is finalized. She needed to sell so she could move out of state for a kidney transplant for her husband. Hage confirmed to NEWS10 on October 3 that Teta Marie's is now closed.
The Geronimos are from Peru and wanted their next restaurant to be Peruvian. In 2015, they and another family member opened Salsa Latina in Albany before opening Greenbush Salsa Latina in 2021. The Geronimos then became only the owners of the East Greenbush location rather than Albany.
The Quechua menu will feature classic Peruvian dishes such as ceviche, as well as Japanese, Italian, and Spanish fusion dishes. They are still working on the menu.
"This is our dream come true," said Edith Geronimo.
The Broadway space is currently being renovated, and the Geronimos are hoping to have Quechua Peruvian Restaurant open at the beginning of January. It depends when they receive all the necessary permits.
