Popular YouTube and TikTok personality Jack Doherty was involved in a single-car crash in Miami on Saturday, Oct. 5, and it was all streamed live. The 20-year-old social media star was behind the wheel of a McLaren 570S sports car when he lost control of the vehicle—seemingly while using his phone—and crashed into a guard rail.
According to The Daily Mail, there were 185,000 people watching Doherty's stream at the time of his crash. In a 2023 YouTube video, Doherty revealed that the custom-designed car cost over $200,000 and featured a custom wrap. The social media star has shared plenty of photo and video of the incident, showing the car's entire front end crushed in against the barrier.
In fact, Doherty seemed primarily concerned with capturing social media content in the aftermath of the crash, despite the fact that he had a passenger with him who appeared to be bleeding from the face in some videos. Both men were reportedly transported to the hospital after the crash.

Streaming platform Kick has since banned Doherty's account, telling TMZ that it "does not condone illegal activity, which is why we swiftly took action and moved to ban this creator from the platform."
Doherty has come under fire from fellow social media stars for his behavior following the incident. "We live in a world where fame is chased harder than compassion. A kid, more concerned with recording and texting, didn’t even check on his friend in the passenger seat—his first thought was his car. This is the illness we face," wrote streamer dakotaz.
