I couldn’t afford £1.5k for a new front door so gave my grubby old one a makeover – it looks ‘cracking’ only cost £48

A WOMAN has revealed that she couldn’t afford to splash the cash on a new front door, so decided to give hers a makeover herself.

JE Narrighi, who is from the UK, explained that after seeing her mother’s new front door, she was keen to give hers some TLC.

Using cheap buys from Amazon and Screwfix, JE Narrighi turned her door from drab to fab, leaving many totally stunned[/caption]

But in order to save cash, rather than breaking the bank on a new one, the DIY enthusiast used cheap buys from Amazon and Screwfix to turn hers from drab to fab.

Thrilled with her door’s transformation, JE Narrighi took to social media to share a before and after of her door’s overhaul, leaving many open-mouthed. 

Posting on DIY On A Budget Official, a private Facebook group with 2.2 million members, the DIY fan uploaded a snap of her front door prior to its makeover.

The white door was looking a bit tired and was in desperate need of some personality.

As a result, JE Narrighi got some paint, a new door handle, and even an upgraded letterbox to give the door a fresh new look.

Alongside her post, JE Narrighi wrote: “Decided to paint my door since my mum bought herself a new one for £1.5k and it looked cracking. 

“I didn’t have that kind of cash so gave mine a bit of a makeover on a budget.”

The DIY fan confessed that she used City Slicker paint, from Frenchic, which cost her £21.49. 

Not only does the grey paint add style to the door, but we’re sure that it would get the Mrs Hinch seal of approval too. 

As well as this, she also nabbed her chic, black door handle for just £12.99 from Amazon.

And to make the letterbox that bit more modern, she also got a black letterbox from Screwfix, costing her only £13.99.

In total, the makeover cost £48.47, as JE Narrighi beamed: “Pretty pleased with the results for under 50 quid!”

Social media users were equally as impressed with the door’s transformation and many flocked to the comments to express this.

To this, the DIY enthusiast replied: “Doesn’t it! Mad how much a lick of paint can change a door!” 

Meanwhile, someone else asked: “Stupid question but was it easy to replace the door handle or did you have to replace all the mechanism too?”

In response, the DIY lover explained: “It was dead easy to do just two screws.

“I never changed the lock/barrel because then I’d have changed the keys as well so didn’t bother. It would be trickier if you wanted to do that though.”
