Senior state officials, including the president, have seen their salaries increase by up to €1,400 since 2022 and are set to receive an additional €700 raise in 2025, attributed to inflation.
According to Politis, the president of the Republic currently receives a net salary of €8,889 per month, which will rise to €9,050 on January 1, 2025. The attorney-general, deputy attorney-general, and the presidents and judges of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts currently earn €8,864, with their salaries set to increase to €9,004 as of January 1.
Other judges, who now earn up to €7,168 in 2024, will see their pay increase to €7,273 in 2025. Meanwhile, the House president lags slightly behind, earning €7,231, with a projected increase to €7,359 net in January 2025.
The auditor-general’s net salary will rise from €6,895 in 2024 to €6,993 in 2025.
Ministers, deputy ministers, and the government spokesperson are currently earning €5,883, which will increase to €5,981 next year. MPs, by comparison, are at €4,991 in 2024, with their salaries set to reach €5,211 in 2025.
Other top officials are currently earning between €3,589 and €7,096 per month in 2024 and are expected to get between €3,657 and €7,190 in 2025.
Additionally, the state budget allocates €5.2 million for pensions to be paid to no more than 200 former state officials in 2025. The top monthly pension ceilings are set at €6,472 for a former president, €5,148 for a former House president, €4,198 for former ministers, deputy ministers and the government spokesperson, and €3,734 for former MPs.
