To make matters worse, certain drugs or geographic regions already have limited access and some medications that have an intrinsically shorter shelf life could be disproportionately affected. Also, certain larger organizations may hold more inventory, which can limit access to others, Basu said.
“I’ve strongly recommended “stockpiling” critical medications including antibiotics since the turn of the century. This has been an incredible investment as many friends, family, and patients have benefited. Now, in the fall of 2024, this recommendation is even more crucial.”
