Cabinet on Monday approved a €1 million grant scheme for installing solar hot water systems.
Energy Minister George Papanastasiou said there are two categories for applicants. The first is a broad scheme with up to €500 in subsidies.
For applicants in rural areas, the grant amounts to €900.
“The scheme entails of integrated systems. It includes the cylinder and solar panels and there will be a list of participating installers who will be able to install these systems,” Papanastasiou said after the cabinet meeting.
The budget for the scheme amounts to €1m and applications will be available until December 20 or until 1,500 applications are submitted.
Funding for the scheme hails from the Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Conservation Fund.
