Studies have shown coffee can help stimulate new hair growth - here's why our favourite morning drink works.
Coffee can stimulate hair growth primarily due to the presence of caffeine.
Caffeine is known to improve blood circulation, which can help deliver more nutrients to the hair follicles, potentially promoting hair growth.
Additionally, caffeine can counteract the effects of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), a hormone linked to hair loss.
By reducing the impact of DHT on hair follicles, caffeine may help in maintaining healthier hair growth cycles.
There are also topical treatments containing caffeine that are applied directly to the scalp.
These treatments aim to strengthen the hair shaft and stimulate the hair follicles, thereby encouraging growth.
However, while some studies suggest that caffeine can be beneficial for hair growth, more extensive research is needed to fully understand its efficacy and the best methods of application.
“Does it have to be instant coffee? or can you use used coffee from a cafeteria? I understand why instant is best due to it dissolving. just asking,” penned a third.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Will try this!!”
“Instant coffee??” asked a fifth which the doctor said was fine to use.
Someone else added: “I mix it with pumpkin seed oil and leave it on for an hour… I’ve seen a massive change.””
