San Marin girls tennis edged host Marin Catholic, 4-3, on Thursday, with solid wins from Clare Zhu and Deepti Bhat at No. 1 and 2 singles. Zhu beat the Wildcats’ Georgia Compagno, 6-1, 6-1. Bhat won 6-0, 6-1 over Payton Greco.
The Mustangs’ No. 3 doubles team of Julieta Exberger and Divya Lourd earned a dramatic 7-6 (3), 6-3 victory over the Wildcats’ Lindsay Lotter and Ruby Pisaturo.
Christine Zuber and Sienna Taylor earned singles wins for Marin Catholic.
Marin Catholic grad Niki Prongos, a 2022 walk-on at UCLA, was awarded a scholarship by the Bruins recently. Prongos has impressed on the offensive line in two games this season, lining up on the right side. UCLA (1-2) is scheduled to host Oregon on Saturday.
Freshman Jordan Kelly shot her best round of the season with a 41 to lift Marin Academy past Urban, 178-217, at par 30 Fleming at Harding Park on Thursday. Sterling Colpitts shot a 45 for the Wildcats (6-2 BCL), while freshman Kelly Lundgren and junior Piper Marmer both finished at 46.
Ossie Joplin scored a game-high seven goals to lead Redwood High past Tam, 15-5, in Wednesday’s powerhouse showdown. Freshman Storm Jackson added four goals and Jakob Engberg had three for the Giants (8-0 overall, 3-0 MCAL). Lukas Knauer, Sawyer Goldberg and Colin Judson each netted a goal for the Giants (3-2,1-2).
Satya Shiller led Tam with a pair of third-period goals, while Jasper Feldman, Sammy Meleis and Wyatt Donaldson each scored once.
Alina Noyes and Josephine Fetterman-Riggle scored four goals each as Terra Linda beat Novato, 17-1, on Thursday. Evelyn Noyes scored three goals for the Trojans, who also got two goals each from Elizabeth Berringer and Emily Erickson.
Anabelle Phillips found the back of the net six times and had five steals to lead College of Marin past San Francisco City College, 17-3, at Indian Valley on Wednesday. The Mariners’ Delaney Mannor scored on all four of her shots and Marlee Ostrom was 3-for-3 in her attack. Mariners goalie Marie Fehring made 13 saves.
