Jamie O’Hara levelled scathing criticism toward Tottenham’s recruitment following the club’s North London Derby defeat but the midfielder used such bad examples that he turned himself into the joke.
Given the poor start that Tottenham have made to the season, the knives were always going to come out if they lost the North London Derby, and that is exactly what has happened.
While a growing section of the Spurs fan base is now questioning whether Ange Postecoglou’s methods can bring success to the club, others are pointing fingers at the club’s recruitment, insisting that the Australian has not been given the tools he needs to succeed.
O’Hara belongs to the latter camp, taking to social media to suggest that these sorts of results are inevitable if the club continue to sign players from the Championship.
However, the talkSPORT pundit used rather bad examples to make his point, referring to the likes of Aaron Lennon, Tom Huddlestone, and Jermain Defoe as the kind of signings that the club should be making.
A lot of fans were quick to point out that those players arrived at White Hart Lane from Championship clubs – Leeds United, Derby County, and West Ham.
In fact, X (formerly known as Twitter) even decided to add a community note to O’Hara’s tweet to correct the 37-year-old.

Not only did O’Hara name players who were signed from the Championship but also ones who were part of a Spurs team that struggled to finish in the top four for a long time and even finished as low as eighth and eleventh.
