A GIRL of eight died of sepsis after being sent home twice in four hours by a GP, who said the hospital was full.
Mia Glynn’s doctor told her parents on the second visit to give her fluids and Ibuprofen despite the fact she had Group A streptococcus symptoms.
The medic did prescribe antibiotics but told Soron and Katie to start them when Mia went to bed.
That night, her condition worsened and she was taken to hospital where she went into suspected septic shock.
Mia had a cardiac arrest and died 20 minutes later from Group A strep infection.
Her parents set up a charitable organisation aiM — Mia backwards — after the December 2022 tragedy.
It aims to help raise awareness of Strep A sepsis which causes flu-like symptoms, a sore throat and rough-feeling rash.
Katie, 37, of Biddulph, Staffs, said: “Mia was taken to the doctors twice to be told her symptoms were viral.
“Around 15 hours later she died.
“Our beautiful healthy girl was the happiest, brightest, most loving and caring girl. She brought so much laughter and fun.”
Soron, 39, said: “Mia had red flag symptoms. We need to educate the public and health professionals to identify the signs and ask, ‘could it be sepsis?’.”
Their lawyer, Victoria Zinzan, said: “Mia’s death vividly highlights the dangers of sepsis.”
