Neeraj Chopra will shine in Diamond League: Arshad Nadeem of Pakistan couldn’t qualify, know the whole matter

New Delhi: India’s star athlete Neeraj Chopra is ready for a strong performance once again. Neeraj will participate in the Brussels Diamond League Finals 2024. Neeraj’s match will be held on Saturday night. But technically the date and day will change. Pakistan’s Arshad Nadeem could not qualify for the Brussels Diamond League.

Along with Neeraj Chopra, Peters Anderson of Grenada and Weber Julian of Germany will also participate in the javelin throw event of the Diamond League. Therefore Neeraj will face tough competition. Athletes for the Diamond League finals have been selected on the basis of ranking. Only the athletes who are in the top 6 in the Diamond League rankings have been selected. Arshad could not make it to the top 6.

Neeraj was ranked fourth in the Diamond League rankings. He got 14 points, and Anderson Peters remained on top as he scored 29 points. Neeraj may face tough competition from Weber and Peters as well as Czech Jakub. He was in third place in the ranking, Neeraj’s match will start at 1.52 pm. So technically it will start on September 15.

In a regular season, the pre-competition talk around Chopra would be around his impending 90m throw but given his prolonged struggle with a groin strain that also affected his performance at the Olympics, it will be interesting to note how much the Indian is willing to stretch in the season-ender. He is expected to see a doctor after the Brussels meeting to find a permanent solution for a niggle that has troubled him for almost two years.
