Tom Brady Comeback Speculation Surfaces After Tua Tagovailoa Injury

The Miami Dolphins have a hole to fill at quarterback, and it meant another opportunity for Tom Brady speculation to come crashing in.

Tua Tagovailoa sustained a concussion in Miami's loss to the Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium on Thursday. It was the 26-year-old's fourth diagnosed concussion of his college and pro career, and while head coach Mike McDaniel did not wish to speculate on his signal-caller, it's clear his career is up in the air.

Miami plans to roll with Skylar Thompson as its starting quarterback. The second-year signal-caller has three career starts under his belt, including a playoff game, and did not look impressive. It's why outside options like Ryan Tannehill or fantasy trades for Jimmy Garoppolo or Mac Jones were floated. Others went a step further.

On "The Greg Hill Show" on Friday, Jermaine Wiggins brought up Brady as a possibility for the Dolphins. The WEEI host noted the team is in his backyard, and he would fall into a perfect situation with Tyreek Hill and McDaniel. Co-hosts Hill and Courtney Cox pushed back since Brady has been out of football for so long, and there's a likely possibility he might not have it anymore at 47 years old. However, Chris Curtis and Wiggins weren't buying it, and all the hosts agreed that Brady would be a top-10 QB if he did return. They also noted how perfect of a story it would be for Brady to come in and win a Super Bowl in New Orleans, especially if he edged out Patrick Mahomes to do so.

Jon Weiner, aka Stugotz of the "Dan LeBatard Show," posted on social media for Miami to make the call to Brady. Former Pittsburgh Steelers QB Devlin Hodges also joined in on the speculation.

Miami two years ago was penalized by the NFL for tampering with Brady and Sean Payton to get them to South Beach. Speculation about the Dolphins continued last year with the New England Patriots Hall of Famer even teasing the idea.

It should be worth pointing out that this is all speculation. It's hard to fathom Brady leaving his FOX deal even if his debut received mixed reviews, and he'd lose out on his ownership stake in the Las Vegas Raiders. Brady loves football and has a lot to say about the modern game, but it would be wild to see Brady unretire a second time and play for a Patriots rival.
