Demi Lovato has released a new song!
Om Friday (Sept. 13), the 32-year-old entertainer dropped the song “You’ll Be OK, Kid,” the original song from her upcoming Child Star documentary.
“The sharks in the water will teach you to swim / The thorns on the roses will thicken your skin / People might hurt you and break promises,” Demi sings. “But, darlin’, I promise you this / You’ll be okay, kid / You’ll be okay, kid, mm.”
In a statement, Demi opened up about writing the song while working on the documentary, which she co-directed with Nicola Marsh.

“As we were editing the film, I became very inspired to write a song. The idea of connecting with my younger self through the pain and hardships that came along with child stardom was so important to me,” Demi continued. “I wrote the song as a letter to my inner child, and I hope that it can give others an opportunity to connect with their inner child as well.”
