Team India batter and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) captain Shreyas Iyer has been trying to find his way back into the Indian Test team after being left out of the squad for the two-Test series. Iyer is leading the India ‘D’ side in the second game on the ongoing Duleep Trophy 2024 at Anantapur which started on Thursday. However, Friday didn’t prove to be a fruitful one for Iyer and his India ‘D’ teammate Sanju Samson.
On Day 2 of the India ‘D’ vs India ‘A’ match, Iyer came out to bat with a new look – a pair of sunglasses – as his side began reply to 290 posted by India ‘A’ team in the first innings. Iyer walked into bat with the score reading 4 for 1 with opener Atharva Taide dismissed for 4 by left-arm pacer Khaleel Ahmed.
Iyer only last 7 balls before chipping Khaleel to Aaqib Khan at mid-on to be dismissed for a duck as India ‘D’ slumped to 6 for 2 in the third over of their innings.

After Khaleel’s two early wickets, Aaqib Khan picked a couple of wickets – dismissing India ‘D’ opener Yash Dubey for 7 and wicketkeeper Sanju Samson for 5. The Rajasthan Royals skipper was added to the India ‘D’ squad for the second match in Duleep Trophy 2024.
But his stint in the middle lasted just 6 balls as he was dismissed for 5. Samson attempted an ungainly pull shot against medium pacer Aaqib Khan only to sky the ball only till mid-on where his Royals teammate Prasidh Krishna took a tumbling catch.
