U.S. Supreme Court Justice Amy Coney Barrett has adopted two children from Haiti, and one legal expert is calling on her to dispel the myths being spread about Haitian immigrants.
During her nomination speech, Coney Barrett gave details of each of her seven children and what they are interested in. The two Haitian immigrants were described as "merely the sum of their trauma," wrote one critic at the time.
"It would be nice if Justice Amy Coney Barrett… who has adopted Haitian children— said, like, ANYTHING THE F--- AT ALL about the demonization of this community coming from her own party and the President who appointed her," lamented columnist Elie Mystal.

Former President Donald Trump, who brought Coney Barrett to the High Court, deployed a false conspiracy theory that migrants from Haiti were eating dogs and cats in Springfield, Ohio. The Federalist published a call to 911 with an individual making the claim about a Haitian man eating a neighborhood pet. The police report proved it was false. The Federalist left that fact out of their report.
Haitian families in Ohio are now terrified, The Haitian Times reported.
“We’re all victims this morning,” said one Haitian woman, who was scared to give her name. “They’re attacking us in every way.”
She said that her cars were vandalized twice overnight and that she woke up to broken windows. The report said that she tried to report the incident to the police "to no avail. " She has since installed cameras in her driveway.
