Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a Wednesday interview that former President Trump reminds her of a balloon that rapidly loses air “when you stick a pin in it.”
Pelosi, who was the top House Democrat throughout the Trump administration, described the Republican nominee as “greatly diminished,” in an interview on CNN’s “AC360,” when asked whether she has noticed a change in Trump’s “skill level” or “stamina, thinking, whatever it may be.”
"You know one of those big balloons when you stick a pin in it and it swirls around the room until it comes down to nothing? That‘s what he reminds me of,” Pelosi responded in the interview. “Just less and less and less and less, like somebody stuck a pin in him, and he‘s just greatly diminished."
Her comments come as Democrats are giddy over Vice President Harris’s performance in Tuesday's debate, and many Republicans are expressing frustration with Trump's showing.
“The fact that we‘re talking about kitchen table issues, people‘s personal health, their financial health, all the things that people care about, and what is he talking about? Well, the things you talked about earlier” Pelosi said to Anderson Cooper.
“But I do think that people saw a big distinction as to who can be the commander-in-chief, who is respected,” Pelosi added of the debate.
Harris and Trump faced off Tuesday night for the first time on the debate stage. Harris frequently baited the former president, who, in turn, often responded to her provocations and also went off on conspiratorial tangents.
Many Republicans have responded to the debate by criticizing the ABC News moderators, while Trump has even floated punishing the network.
Trump campaign spokesman Steven Cheung dismissed Pelosi's criticism.
"Nancy Pelosi has no idea what she is talking about and has been proven to be a liar and fraud. If she isn't busy giving herself fake titles to make herself feel better, she's peddling fake news because it's the only thing she's ever done," he said in an email Thursday.
