Two-division world champion Marlon Tapales(39-4) is eager to keep the momentum going after his recent victory on September 7 in Cambodia. The Filipino boxer is determined to stay active as he seeks another opportunity to compete for a world title.
“I was very happy with the tune-up bout in Cambodia,” Tapales expressed. “I got the rounds I needed and had a wonderful time in the great country of Cambodia. I’m looking to stay active around the end of the year or early next year, even going back to Cambodia.”
Tapales scored a unanimous decision victory over a determined Saurabh Kumar(11-2) at the Olympic Stadium in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This marks Tapales's second consecutive win following a great performance, despite his loss to superstar Naoya Inoue in the bout for the undisputed title.
With the support of his dedicated team at Sanman Boxing and Knuckleheads, Tapales is focused on maintaining his readiness for future challenges. “"I trust my team at Sanman Boxing and Knuckleheads to handle whats next," Tapales added. "I’m confident they will have the best opportunities for me."
