Twenty years after Usher released “Confessions,” ’90s-boy rock legend Dave Grohl is taking a different approach to coming clean about his own infidelity. In a new Instagram statement, the Foo Fighters musician shared that he “recently became the father of a new baby daughter, born outside my marriage.” He added that he plans to be “a loving and supportive parent to her” and that he’s doing “everything I can” to regain his family’s trust.
Grohl has been married to former model, producer, and director Jordyn Bloom since 2003. They have three daughters together: Violet Maye, 18, Harper Willow, 15, and Ophelia Saint, 10. His first marriage, to photographer Jennifer Youngblood, ended in divorce in 1997 because of his infidelity, according to The Guardian.
Over the years, he has kept his family and his relationship with his wife mostly out of the public eye, although he did reveal to Elle in 2007 that when he and Bloom first met, he “stopped calling” for three months before having a “revelation” and reaching back out to her. In 2008, he told GQ that his song “Statues” was written about his relationship with her, explaining “To me there’s nothing more beautiful than seeing the headstones of a husband and wife side by side in a graveyard.”
It sounds like Grohl is trying to remain as private as a public figure going through messy marriage drama can, concluding his statement with, “We’re grateful for your consideration toward all the children involved, as we move forward together.” Godspeed and best of luck, bro.
