TROY, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- According to law enforcement, a Troy man was arrested for allegedly stealing multiple art pieces from a local museum. Police said Daniel F. Brown Jr. was charged with two counts of third-degree burglary, two counts of fourth-degree grand larceny, and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
Police said they were called to a local art gallery on Wednesday, Sept. 4, after several art pieces were stolen. Law enforcement collected evidence and a description of the suspect from staff.
Law enforcement found the suspect, later identified as Brown, walking near 2nd Street on Monday, Sept. 9. Police stopped Brown, and he was arrested after being questioned by detectives.
During the investigation, police found Brown was charged with burglary in another incident on Monday, Sept. 2, when he allegedly stole electronics from a business. In a follow-up investigation, police said they found other pieces of art stolen from the gallery, which provided them with additional evidence of support.
Police returned the stolen art pieces to the gallery. Brown was arraigned in Troy City Court and released.
