Media registration is open for the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024 due to be played in Hong Kong, China, from 7 to 12 October. The deadline for registration is 5 October.
All members of the media, both local/national and international, who plan to cover the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup must apply for accreditation through the official WBSC Media Accreditation online platform at https://my.wbsc.org.
The accreditation procedure starts by clicking on MEDIA ACCREDITATION. The online request form needs to be completed, also including a headshot.
Once the request is submitted, media members will receive an automated email confirmation that their application has been received. Those media intending to cover the event remotely should contact the WBSC Media Department by writing to media@wbsc.org.
Another automated message will indicate a "change of status" in the accreditation request.
Media members can check their request status after the registration deadline of 5 October by accessing my.wbsc.org and clicking SEARCH FOR YOUR ACCREDITATION on the top right of the page. They will then need to enter their name, last name and email address.
A pre-tournament press conference will be scheduled. Details will follow at a later stage.
The WBSC will share a protocol for media interviews during the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup with the accredited media before the tournament opens.
The WBSC Baseball5 World Cup 2024 will be held in Hong Kong, China. The 12 teams were divided into two groups and will each play five games during the group stage, taking place from 7-9 October.
Group A: Cuba; Chinese Taipei; Venezuela; Hong Kong, China; South Africa and Lithuania
Group B: Japan; France; Tunisia; Mexico; China and Australia
The 30-game Opening Round will be wrapped up on 9 October, but not before defending champions Cuba and bronze medallists Chinese Taipei go head-to-head in the penultimate game of the group stage.
The top three finishers from each group will secure a spot in the Super Round, while the remaining six teams will enter the Placement Round.
The Super Round, taking place on 10 and 11 October, will determine the top two teams who will compete for the Baseball5 World Championship title on 12 October at 15:00. Before the final, the third and fourth-placed teams will compete for the bronze medal and the final podium spot.
Now in its second edition, the WBSC Baseball5 World Cup is gearing up to be hotter than ever, especially with Baseball5 making its debut in the Youth Olympic Games at Dakar 2026.
