The World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) announced the Super Round and Placement Round schedules of the WBSC U-23 Baseball World Cup 2024 following the completion of the Opening Round in Shaoxing, China. The nine Super Round games and nine Placement Round games are scheduled from September 12 to 14 at the Shaoxing Baseball and Softball Sports Culture Center.
World No. 24 China and No 6 Korea will open the Super Round at 10:00 (local time) on Thursday, September 12. The other two games are scheduled at 19:00 (local time): No. 5 Venezuela v No. 1 Japan (Field 1) and No. 10 Puerto Rico v No. 17 Nicaragua (Field 2).
On Friday, September 13, and Saturday, September 14, the Super Round Games are scheduled for Field 1 at 14:30 (local time) and Fields 1 and 2 at 19:00 (local time).
At the end of the Super Round, the top two finishers will advance to the U-23 World Championship Final, while the third and fourth-place finishers will play for the bronze medal.
Meanwhile, world No. 15 Australia, No. 7 the Netherlands, No. 11 Colombia, No. 3 Chinese Taipei, Great Britain (No.18) and South Africa (No. 31) will contest the Placement Round with Great Britain and South Africa starting proceedings on September 12 at 10:00 (local time) on Field 2. The other two games are scheduled at 14:30 (local time): Netherlands v Australia (Field 1) and Chinese Taipei v Colombia (Field 2).
So far in the tournament, Nicaragua has showcased the best pitching staff, allowing a 1.00 earned run average (ERA). Defending champions Japan follow with 1.97. Puerto Rico have 2.50, China 2.88, Korea 3.20 and Venezuela 3.82.
China's Wei Zhao has the best ERA (1.40) and the most innings pitched (10), along with Australia's Ky Jackson. Jackson is also the strikeout leader, tied at 10 with Great Britain's Oliver Duthie.

Puerto Rico's Eduardo Villegas has the best batting average of the Opening Round (.583). Two more players are above or at .500: Tucker Stockman (Great Britain, .545) and Korea's Daeseon Jeong.
Chun-Wei Lu of Chinese Taipei is the only hitter with two home runs.
