New Delhi: Akash Deep played a decent knock of 43 runs while representing India A in the fourth innings of their Duleep Trophy 2024 opening clash against Team B at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. The pacer smashed four sixes and three fours during his innings.
Though, India A lost the game by huge 76 runs. Taking to his official Instagram handle on Tuesday, September 10, Akash Deep posted clips of some of his boundaries from the game.
The post consisted videos of him hitting India B speedster Mukesh Kumar for a four and a six during the encounter. Commenting on the post, Muskesh humorously asked Akash Deep to share the videos of his dismissal as well.
It is worth mentioning that Akash Deep scored just 11 runs in India A’s first innings before losing his wicket to Mukesh. He impressed may with his bowling exploits in the fixture, claiming nine wickets across two innings.
Former India Cricketer, Sourav Ganguly, heaped praise of Bengal’s Akash Deep. He believes the 27-year-old pacer is capable of delivering in the high 140s, just like Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj.
Ganguly highlighted Akash Deep’s consistent performances for Bengal in the domestic circuit, predicting a bright future for the pacer.
“Akash Deep is an outstanding young fast bowler. He runs in, bowls quick, and will bowl for long periods. He is fit, I’ve seen him play for Bengal over a long period of time, taking wickets. He will be as quick as Mohammed Siraj and Mohammed Shami, hitting high 140s. He is one to watch out for,” said Ganguly.
Akash Deep has played in one Test match for India in his career. he clinched three wickets in his debut game against England in Ranchi. The pacer is part of India’s squad for for the upcoming Test series opener against Bangladesh, starting from September 19 in Chennai.
