Police tell News 4 that a mother was driving her son, who was in his 40's, to a local hospital for a mental health crisis when he became erratic during the drive.
Officials say the mother pulled over to the side of the road when the son exited the vehicle and began to run in and out of traffic before being struck by multiple vehicles and killed. Five different drivers remained at the scene.
