MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) -- Commuters are encouraged to avoid areas near the 9/11 Memorial Wednesday as ceremonies will be held throughout the day.
New Yorkers can use the MTA app for real-time train and bus arrival times and updated travel information.
The following are changes in transit slated for the day, however, the MTA notes that these are subject to change due to NYPD security protocols.
The NYPD will implement a traffic diversion for Manhattan-bound traffic from 7 to 11 a.m. Traffic from the Gowanus (I-278) and Prospect Expressways in Brooklyn will be diverted onto the eastbound BQE (I-278) or local streets.
There will also be limited access for Brooklyn-bound traffic as the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel will only be accessible from local streets in Manhattan.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area and seek alternate travel routes or methods of travel.
The No. 1 trains will skip WTC-Cortlandt station from 12:45 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Many buses will be detoured or delayed throughout the day. Riders who take the Express Bus that travels through the Hugh L. Carey Tunnel should expect delays, detours, and diversions.
