TOPEKA (KSNT) - The Shawnee County District Attorney has filed charges against a man accused of shooting and killing a man in Topeka earlier this year.
Katie Garceran with the Shawnee County District Attorney's office said in a press release that Silas B. A. Kriner, 21, is being charged with murder in the first degree and aggravated robbery. These are in connection to the recent deadly shooting of Earon D. D. Cooper, 31, in Topeka this summer.
Police were called just after midnight on July 20, 2024 to the 2900 block of South Topeka Boulevard on reports of a shooting. Topeka police arriving at the scene found a man, later identified as Cooper, in his vehicle near a local fitness center. He was suffering from numerous gunshot wounds and declared dead at the scene.
Investigators connected Kriner to the shooting and took him into custody on Sept. 4, 2024. Cooper's death is the 11th homicide case for Topeka so far in 2024.
