Alasdair Gold believes that, based on Ange Postecoglou’s words last week, one would expect both Micky van de Ven and Dominic Solanke to be fit to play a part against Arsenal.
Solanke has only played one game for Tottenham since his big-money from Bournemouth, with the striker missing the games against Everton and Newcastle due to an ankle injury.
There has already been a lot of discussion in the media about the fee that Spurs paid for him and debates over whether it will prove to be money well spent.
The striker will be keen to get out onto the pitch to prove his worth and he has a chance to become a Tottenham hero by scoring his first goal for the club against Arsenal on Sunday.
Van de Ven, meanwhile, sat out Spurs’ trip to St James’ Park after picking up a knock in the 4-0 win over the Toffees, with the Dutchman pulling out of the Netherlands squad and spending the international break at Hotspur Way.
When asked if the pair could be fit for Sunday’s game, Gold has now said on Q&A on Football.London: “We can only go on Ange Postecoglou’s words and he said Dominic Solanke will be ready to face Arsenal.
“He said last Friday that he was close for Newcastle but they wanted to ‘err on the side of caution’ and had previously dispelled any suggestion he would miss the North London Derby.
“It sounded the same with Micky van de Ven as he said he was ‘close in training this week but with the international break he’s not quite 100%’.
“With a further two weeks of recovery and work under their belts you would imagine both will be in a position to face Arsenal, but we’ll get the final word on Postecoglou on Friday.”

Given that they would have had two weeks to recover, one would expect both Solanke and Van de Ven to be fit to make the starting lineup for the big game on Sunday.
