YOU can expect to find people sunbathing, slathering on the sun cream and even fighting over loungers.
But one thing you arguably wouldn’t expect to see next to the hotel swimming pool is someone clipping their toenails.
She heard a “clicking” noise but didn’t want to believe what she was seeing[/caption] She had been watching her kids in the pool when the man started, before scooping off the clippings onto the floor[/caption]Katy was on holiday in Dubai, and had been watching her three kids “live their best life” in the pool when she heard a “clicking” noise.
“And I’m like, I know what sound that is, please do not let it be true, right near where I’m sitting,” she said in a video on her TikTok page.
“So I’m reading my book, ignoring the sound.
“But I know exactly what the sound is. Some dirty pig is cutting their toenails – about 15 feet away from me.
“A man, a grown man, is cutting his toenails by the pool. I can’t.
“How am I so shocked by the nature of some people?”
And when he was finished, the “worst thing is” that he just scooped all the nails off the towel “onto the floor”.
“Please tell me I’m not the only one totally disgusted by this,” she said.
“Surely cutting your toenails is a private thing, you don’t do it by a public pool?”
People were quick to comment on the video, with one writing: “Why would you choose to do it round the pool and NOT in your room?!
“I’d be raging!!!!”
“Jeez you can hear and see what someone doing 15ft away,” another added.
With Katy replying: “Yeh it’s so close!”
When someone else asked why Katy hadn’t said anything, she hit back: “I was in shock I didn’t know what to say!!
“He definitely looked like the kind of person who wouldn’t give a f**k!!”
And others revealed their own similar situations, with one saying that they had seen “a woman clipping her nails in a restaurant”.
AIMEE Millar, 20, said she resorted to leaving her room in the middle of the night when she discovered other guests were doing the same.
The holidaymaker, who lives near Belfast, Northern Ireland, explained she would have to pay £6 for each sunbed if she didn’t claim them early enough.
She told Luxury Travel Daily: “As much as it was crazy we didn’t mind doing it at 1am as we were staying up later anyways.”
Aimee and her partner Darragh, also 20, decided to join the sunbed wars while on holiday in Albufeira, Portugal.
They stayed at the popular resort from July 28 to August 10.
On the first few mornings, they claimed their sunbeds before breakfast at around 6am but kept missing out on the best spots.
In a video shared to TikTok, Aimee documented the couple’s early morning trip to the pool in a bid to get the best sunbeds.
Armed with their towels, Aimee said: “I know it’s crazy but it’s the normal thing to do here.”
Reflecting on her sneaky strategy, she acknowledged it’s unfair.
“I think leaving towels down when leaving the pool or late at night is crazy and a bit too far,” Aimee said.
“I think it wouldn’t be very fair to an older couple or families with young kids who may be in bed earlier – they can’t go and do this as easy.”
“I was on bus once and woman started cutting her toe nail,” another added.
“I was on a bus and a women started picking dead skin off her feet and flicking on the floor,” someone else said.
“What the hell is wrong with people?!”
In another video on TikTok, Katy revealed that another man had cut his foot open walking back from the beach – and wondered if he had stood on the other man’s toenails.
