Match Preview – Queen’s Park B v Kilmarnock Reserves
Queen’s Park B play their second SPFL Reserve League fixture of the season when they host Kilmarnock at Lochinch on Tuesday afternoon.
The young Spiders lost their opening league fixture 2-0 at Dunfermline whilst Killie saw off Queen of the South handsomely however B Team Head Coach Sean Crighton is not basing his team selection on those results.
Sean explained: “Kilmarnock won 6-0 in their first game however I do read too much into that ahead of facing them. In simple terms at this stage of the league, we do not know what kind of line-ups we will be facing.”
“They could come here with an experienced team, or they could come here with an inexperienced team, so on that basis I will look at our boys and what they can do first. The performance at Dunfermline was not the best a fortnight ago but we showed more against Partick Thistle last week.”
The penalty kick City of Glasgow Cup success over the Jags came following a 2-2 draw with former centre back Crighton adding: “We will look to build on the performance we put in during the Thistle game. The first half an hour was really good and whilst the experience in their team began to tell after that, we made a great game of it before winning the penalty shoot-out.”
Sean was delighted that Rocco Hickey-Fugaccia and Tyrece McDonnell were involved on the pitch with the First Team on Sunday when Edinburgh City were seen off 1-0 in the SPFL Trust Trophy with Darryl Carrick, Michael Collie, Max Fiddes and Magnus Mackenzie also on the bench.
The B Team Head Coach added: “That is what you want to see and long may it continue. It is great that the First Team Head Coach trusts the B players and I will keep doing what I can do to help the players be involved at that level.”
