“This is my last dance,” she told The New York Times.
Kathy was actually ready to retire before Matlock came around, after a movie shoot turned sour for her. She really gave her all for the role, and it went underappreciated, so the next day, she called her agents and told them she wanted to retire.
However, a few weeks later and her agents sent her the script for Matlock and it moved her so much that she decided to pause those plans.
“Everything I’ve prayed for, worked for, clawed my way up for, I am suddenly able to be asked to use all of it,” Kathy said of the upcoming series. “And it’s exhausting.”
Matlock is set to premiere in a couple weeks, on Sunday, September 22nd at 8pm ET on CBS. Get more details, watch the teaser and find out who else will star!
