Parrot that won’t stop singing cheesy 80s hits is on the loose

A devastated family have offered up a ‘generous’ reward after their bright pink parrot that loves 80s music went missing.

Django, a galah parrot, escaped from his home in Blencogo, near Wigton in Cumbria, on August 3.

The 10-year-old bird flew off when he was startled by a loud noise while being moved from indoors to his outdoor enclosure.

His terrified owners, Helen and Craig, said the bird is a ‘huge part of the family’, and has bonded with their three children.

Django loves singing and dancing to 80s music, and his favourite song is Culture Club’s 1983 hit Karma Chameleon.

Helen said: ‘The kids were quite young when we got Django, so he’s been a huge part of our family unit.

‘He’s got a really quirky personality and a really strong bond with my eldest daughter, Chloe, and with my husband, Craig. He’s a very friendly and happy bird.

‘He loves 1980s music – Bananarama, Culture Club, and AC/DC. He’ll sing along and dance away to anything with a beat. He’s just an absolute cracker.

‘When he escaped, it was just devastating. My husband was transferring him from the house to the outdoor enclosure, and unfortunately, a tractor drove by at that moment and he spooked and shot off.

‘Every day since has been a challenge to get through – we’re all just wondering where he is and what he’s doing.’

Django has distinctive bright pink plumage

The heartbroken family are offering a ‘generous’ reward for anyone who can return their beloved pet.

Helen suggested he might be lured back with his favourite snacks: Seabrook and Quavers crisps.

His ‘very distinctive calls’ include the phrases ‘it’s teatime’, ‘pretty boy’, quacking and wolf-whistling.

Helen said: ‘He’s very different to the local wild birds that we have in Cumbria!

‘We are offering a generous reward to anybody who can safely capture him.

‘Maybe somebody has got him – and if they have, there would be no questions asked. It would just be absolutely amazing to have him returned to us.

‘It would mean everything to have him home safe. We really miss him.”
