Mitchell is doing all he can to embrace Cleveland.
Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell has gone out of his way to ingratiate himself with the city since arriving three years ago. On Sunday, he took that to another level by tailgating at the Muni Lot before attending the Cleveland Browns and Dallas Cowboys game on his birthday weekend.
Mitchell started his morning off by asking for the best tailgate spot before the game.
Best tailgates for the @Browns game today???

He quickly followed up on that by being present when Myles Garrett arrived at the Muni Lot. Mitchell looks like the rest of their fans with their phones out in Adam Schefter’s videos below.

He backed that up with the midwestern thing possible: A game of cornhole.

There’s nothing Cleveland sports fans like more than someone embracing their city. Mitchell knows this. He didn’t need to be in the city or at the game. There certainly was no reason he had to tailgate, but he chose to anyway. Mitchell is outwardly showing that he wants to be a part of the city and that’s cool to see.
Mitchell signed an extension to stay in Cleveland for the next three seasons earlier this summer. The Cavs will be starting their 2024-25 season soon. Media Day is scheduled for Sept. 30. Training camp in Bradenton, FL will commence the following day. Their first preseason game is Oct. 8 against the Chicago Bulls.
