A MURDERER branded brutish and sadistic by a judge has won her prison fight for a tax-payer-funded bra.
Justine Wainwright, who battered a woman to death with a pickaxe handle, complained that it was unfair she had to go braless since 2020 as the jail did not have underwear to fit her.
Now, after her case was highlighted in lags’ mag Inside Time, she is being supplied with a high-impact sports bra in Low Newton prison in Durham.
She said jail bosses previously told her she should buy her own but argued they had a duty to supply her with suitable underwear.
But ex-Tory minister Sir Alec Shelbrooke said: “This is another blatant waste of taxpayers’ money.
“Why can’t she have just bought it herself? Prisoners earn money by taking on roles in jail.”
Wainwright, 64, was jailed for life with Penelope Brownlie, 51, in 2018 for killing 42-year-old Clare Louise Smith in a row over a necklace in Barnsley.
Judge Jeremy Richardson QC told them: “You are two brutish women who have demonstrated a ruthless capability to visit relentless, extreme violence.
“Your conduct bordered on the sadistic.”
