A THRIFTY woman has revealed how she gave her old leather sofa an epic makeover with a lick of paint.
Forking out for a brand new sofa can set you back quite a bit – but Facebook user Teena Maria Ridgeway recently proved there’s no need to spend a fortune on the living room essential.
According to the thrifty DIY lover, from Basingstoke, she had had her leather sofas for four years and although they still looked in prime condition, Teena fancied a change.
The original two-seater boasted a stunning deep brown colour – however, she wanted to zhuzh it up – and all it took was some paint.
Sharing the epic transformation on the DIY On A Budget Official group, Teena wrote in the post: ”Wanted to share my brown to cream leather 2 seater dyed with LCD leather dye….have 3 seater, armchair to do.”
The total costs of the purse-friendly project came to an affordable £70, thanks to the special paint she’d ordered from Amazon.
According to the popular online retailer, ”the self- sealing leather dye repairs old scuff marks, scratches and everyday signs of wear and tear as well as sun damage making car or home seats or sofas look fantastic again”.
”Besides restoring blemishes, the leather dye will keep new marks from forming.

What’s more, not only will you save money by repainting the old sofa instead of forking out for a new one, the application process is also easy.
The instructions online tell to ”apply in light coats, by hand or spray, to build the depth of colour” and ”every 100ml bottle covers 4 square feet”.
Teena – who said this was not her first project – added: ”I’ve been doing this on furniture for a long time.
”If done properly with time and patience you can have good results..
”My sofas are only 4 years old and I wanted new colour, I’m very pleased with the end product.”
After a few layers of the affordable dye, the end result was cream leather sofas – which looked totally brand new.
