SUMMER may be over but you need not say goodbye to beachy hair.
In fact, undone styles are set to be huge for autumn/winter, and salt sprays are the easiest way to achieve them.
This week, I put three to the test.

I love the smell of this – it made me feel like I was on holiday.
But it is the most drying of those I tried, so best for people like me with relatively healthy hair – otherwise, invest in a good hydrating mask to rehydrate strands.
Although it is dehydrating for your tresses, it doesn’t leave them feeling brittle.
Less is definitely more with this, and it took me a while to work that out, so start small and add more product if you need it.
As the bottle is less than 100ml, it passes cabin luggage regulations so you can take it away with you if you jet off abroad – win!

This came recommended by my hairdresser, so I knew it was going to be good.
It does not make hair dry or hard, but still has a matte finish so it’s not greasy or sticky either.
Plus, a little goes a long way, so I only needed a few sprays of it on my waist-length hair.
This is by far the one I enjoy using most – and the packaging was the easiest to use of the three too.
The trigger spray means you do not accidentally end up with the product on your hands and all over the nozzle while you are dispensing it.

This has a fascinating dual-phase formula which you have to shake to use.
It is the first time I’ve seen an oil-based salt spray, so I wasn’t sure what to expect.
When I first applied it, I could barely feel it in my hair but it definitely gave it more body.
However, I have really fine hair, and it ended up looking quite greasy and limp by the end of the day.
It’s probably best suited to hair that’s thick and dry, as the oil will help nourish strands and bring texture back to life.
I DON’T often pick favourites, but I’ve used Merit The Minimalist Complexion Stick, £40, almost every day since it launched two years ago, so it is clearly one of my go-to products.
