SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (NEWS10)-- The Hudson Valley Garlic Festival is set to return to the Cantine Veterans Memorial Complex on Sept. 28 and Sept. 29. The festival has been around for over 30 years, featuring garlic farmers, food vendors, craft vendors, entertainment and a garlic marketplace.
According to Pat Praetorius, organizer of the festival, the festival will feature over 200 garlic vendors, including daily lectures and chef demos. New this year will be a beer garden, showcasing a variety of craft beer and beverages from different New York State breweries.
"You can never have too much garlic," Founder of the Festival Pat Reppert said.
Admission tickets and on-site parking can be purchased leading up to the festival. Advanced tickets can be purchased for $10 and $8 for seniors over 65. Parking on-site is $10 per car, per day. Free parking is available on off-site lots and shuttle buses will be running from those lots to the festival.
Organizers are still looking for volunteers to help. The "Zero Waste" volunteers will work a four-hour shift and will receive a wristband for entry, a parking pass and a Garlic Festival shirt.
Those interested in volunteering, to see which businesses will be in attendance or to purchase tickets prior to the event, visit the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival's website. To purchase parking tickets, visit the Kiwanis Ice Arena's website.
"Follow your nose to the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival," Praetorius said.
