Sandra Bullock marked the first anniversary of Bryan Randall’s death on Aug. 5 after his three-year battle with ALS. The year of firsts is a hard one — holidays, birthdays, and other life milestones go by without your loved one next to you — that’s why the 60-year-old actress is rediscovering her joy after taking the time to honor her late partner.
After a year of self-care, Bullock is taking the time to pursue activities that were put on hold over the last few years. “Sandra’s keeping the details under wraps, but she’s been talking about some major travel plans and a couple of projects she’s always wanted to make,” a Life & Style source shared. Her first project is the sequel to the 1998 film, Practical Magic, with Nicole Kidman. The sequel was confirmed in June by People, and Kidman shared how excited she was to work with her friend again.
“Yes, I will be in it. And Sandy will be in it. And that’s that,” Kidman explained to the media outlet. “There’s a lot more to tell which is why we go, ‘OK, this is kind of interesting now to be able to do this.’ [We] found a way in.” The movie doesn’t have a release date yet, but it will be a celebrated return to the big screen for Bullock, who took a break from acting in 2022.
“I’m so burnt out. I’m so tired, and I’m so not capable of making healthy, smart decisions, and I know it,” she revealed to The Hollywood Reporter during the press tour for The Lost City. “I just want to be 24/7 with my babies [Louis, 14, and Laila, 11] and my family. That’s where I’m gonna be for a while.” At the time, fans didn’t know what Bullock was dealing with behind the scenes — she temporarily exited her career to care for Randall.
In turn, her A-list pals, including Keanu Reeves and Jennifer Aniston, have taken good care of her over the last year. Bullock’s bond with Aniston is tied to their ex-boyfriend Tate Donovan, whom they both dated at different times in the 1990s. “Jen and Sandra have great business instincts,” an Us Weekly insider said. “When it comes down to it, there simply aren’t a lot of other actresses out there who they can relate to so well with multi-decade career trajectories.” With Bullock set to return to her public life, her Hollywood friends are excited to see her shine again.
