Green and Jackson Receive Honorable Mention Nods from Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award

TYLER, Texas – Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green and running back Ja’Quinden Jackson have been named to the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award honorable mention list following their standout performances during the Razorbacks’ 70-0 victory over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Aug. 29, the Tyler Chamber of Commerce and SPORTyler announced on Wednesday.

The native Texans helped guide the Razorbacks to a touchdown on all seven drives they played as Arkansas recorded its largest margin of victory since 1928.

Green completed 16-of-23 passes (70%) for 229 yards and two touchdowns while rushing six times for 88 yards (14.7 ypc) and two touchdowns during the win. The Lewisville, Texas product became just the third Arkansas quarterback since 1997 to pass for multiple touchdowns and rush for multiple scores in a game. It marked the fourth time in Green’s career that he registered multiple passing and rushing touchdowns in the same game. His 88 rushing yards were tied for the third-most nationally among FBS quarterbacks in week one while his 24 points responsible for per game ranked 10th among all FBS players. The selection marks the fifth of Green’s career, as he was previously selected on four separate occasions at Boise State.

Jackson made an immediate impact in his Arkansas debut, rushing for a team-high 101 yards and two touchdowns on eight carries while adding two receptions for 20 yards. Jackson scored the Hogs’ first touchdown of the season courtesy of an eight-yard rush to cap the opening drive of the season. The Dallas native added his second touchdown on a game-long 46-yard rush with 5:03 on the clock in the first quarter. The performance marked his sixth career 100-yard rushing game and his fourth career multi-rushing touchdown performance.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award recognizes the top offensive player in Division I football who also meets one or more of the following criteria: born in Texas and/or graduated from a Texas High School and/or played at a Texas-based junior college or current playing at a Texas Division I four-year college.

Throughout the season, the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award weekly honors the top-performing players from the state of Texas.

Arkansas continues its non-conference slate by traveling to Stillwater, Okla. this weekend for an 11 a.m. matchup at No. 17 Oklahoma State. The matchup will be televised nationally on ABC and mark the first meeting since 1980 between the two programs.
