Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase returned to practice Wednesday, which is perfect(ly annoying) timing for the New England Patriots.
Chase, who currently is locked in a contract debate with his club, didn't throughout training camp. The Bengals finally got him to dress, though, perhaps signaling an extension is on the horizon.
Bengals head coach Zac Taylor on Wednesday was asked if Chase will suit up in Week 1, replying with a simple, "We'll see." ESPN's Adam Schefter on Tuesday claimed a new deal for Chase "has to get done" for the stud wideout to play Sunday. Patriots head coach Jerod Mayo said his team would prepare as if Chase was playing.
Chase has been one of the most proficient wideouts in the NFL since arriving in 2021, securing 268 receptions for 3,717 yards and 29 touchdowns. He was named to the Pro Bowl in all of his first three seasons.
The Patriots and Bengals are scheduled to kickstart their schedules at 1 p.m. ET at Paycor Stadium on Sunday.
