Samsung announced Sept. 4 that its newest laptop will feature “more than 300 AI-accelerated features”. The company also confirmed it will be the first of a new series of laptops.
The Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 is not a huge departure from Samsung’s last laptop, the Galaxy Book4 Pro 360. One of the Book5’s main upgrades is to Intel Core Ultra processors (Series 2) which the company says will make it “one of our most powerful PCs.”
Samsung is already riding a wave of AI development, with many AI features already included in its line of smartphones and wearables. Many of these features will also be included in the Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 thanks to Microsoft Phone Link. This allows users to connect their Galaxy phones to their PC for a larger display.
Popular Galaxy AI features like Circle to Search let users quickly Google search whatever is on their screen, whether it be text, image or video. Chat Assist, Live Translate and Transcript Assist will also enhance users’ communication in real time.
The laptop’s neural processing unit (NPU) will be capable of handling up to 40 trillions of operations per second (TOPS).
The touch-screen AMOLED display is 16 inches at a resolution of 2,880 x 1,800, with a 120 Hz variable refresh rate and a peak brightness of 500 nits to reduce glare and improve visibility in outside use. The slim design weighs 1.69 kg and includes an an S Pen for writing and drawing.
Additional features include Dolby Atmos quad speakers and an improved woofer, ideal for watching movies and gaming. The Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 will be available in gray and silver, with a full charge supporting up to 25 hours of video playback.
Samsung said the Galaxy Book5 will be released later this month, but did not specify a launch date. Neither has a price been confirmed. The Galaxy Book5 Pro 360 will be available in the U.S., Canada and other selected territories.
