YOU know you look good when you are in your 40s and still get carded at the bar.
Not one to leave her fine lines to fate, a woman shared how her mother follows five skin-saving steps, that have others thinking she is decades younger.
Redditor Yvva no doubt knows that if she continues to look good as she ages, it’s because of her momma – and grandmother.
She revealed how her mom passed for a much younger woman way past her 21st birthday.
“She was carded until she was 42 I think?” she said.
Even at 56, she still looks “really good,” according to her daughter.
She attributed her mother’s ability to trick time with her five commandments aimed at combating crepey skin.
Her “big things” include using sunscreen and watching her alcohol intake.
“No more than a glass or two of wine every couple weeks,” she said.
At one point she had even stretched this out to every few months.
She also avoided any kind of drugs, including smoking, and refused to be around smokers.
Another “huge” factor at play was genetics.
She explained that the only thing that might give away her mother’s age is her hair, which is “fried” after years of lightening it.
Life is also known to get in the way, adding a few years to her look, but overall she was fooling Father Time.
And mom wasn’t the only one looking good for her age.
“My nana is 96 and looks like she’s in her early 80’s in terms of skin,” she said.
While her grandmother has a deep wrinkle that can be seen between the brows, she attributed that to her being “expressive” from making a “particular face.”
She noted how she makes the same face – but she should also follow her same habits, including using a drugstore buy.
Dr. Michael Aziz, an internist and the author of the upcoming book The Ageless Revolution, revealed five habits of young-looking people.
“Sunscreen protects your skin by acting as a barrier against harmful UV rays,” Dr. Aziz told The U.S. Sun.
“There are two main types of sunscreen ingredients: mineral and chemical.
“Mineral ingredients like zinc oxide and titanium dioxide form a physical shield, reflecting UV light away from the skin.
“Without SPF protection, your skin may develop uneven pigmentation in an effort to shield itself from the sun’s rays, leading to potential sun damage such as sunspots and premature aging.
“Using sunscreen is essential to prevent this and maintain healthy skin.”
“She used to use Pond’s Cold Cream when she was young,” she said.
Nana also stayed out of the sun like the “plague.”
“I don’t even think she washed her face with soap. If she did, it may have been Dove bar soap,” she said.
All she knew was that she thought she looked “a ton” better than her boyfriend’s grandmother, who is barely 80.
If you want to try some of her tricks for yourself, Pond’s Cold Cream Cleanser is on sale for $5.39 at Walmart.
Others shared their own parents’ anti-aging habits.
“My dad’s 55 and looks 10 years younger. His secrets? Have oily skin (sorry, this is the genetics part),” said a user.
They also shared how he doesn’t smoke, wears sunscreen, and uses only those facial products containing alcohol.
“My mother is in her late 50s and looks like she’s 40 to 45 or so. She says lots of water, a good thick moisturizer at night, and sunscreen is what did it for her,” another said.
“She also doesn’t smoke and isn’t a drinker at all. I hope I look as good as her when I’m her age!” they added.
“My mom is exactly like this. She is in her 50s and she looks great and only uses a moisturizer and sunscreen. I wish I can grow as gracefully, I don’t think I inherited her good [genetics],” another commented.
