COLONIE, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Bread Butler, a bakery and café located in Colonie Center, is closing. Owner Andreas Mergner announced that the shop's last day will be on Halloween, October 31.
"We don’t want to dwell on why we are ending things, but there were many reasons, and we tried our best for a long time," said Mergner in a Facebook post on the closure. "If you work in the food industry, or own a food business, you would understand all of the challenges these days."
The Bread Butler first opened in 2020 at 1500 Central Avenue in Albany. The shop made the move to Colonie Center in November 2023, opening in the former Moe’s space on the lower level across from Five Guys.
The Bread Butler sells an array of rotating bread products including loaves of bread, baguettes, challah, croissants, and other baked goods, as well as other lunch items. Until its last day, the bakery is open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
"We appreciate all of the wonderful support from our fellow bread loving customers over the last five years," said Mergner.
