USA secured their third consecutive victory in Group C of the WBSC U-18 Women’s Softball World Cup after a commanding 15-0 win over Mexico on Saturday at The Village in Dallas, USA. The game was called after three innings due to the run-ahead rule, as USA’s offence overwhelmed Mexico from the outset.
In the bottom of the first inning, USA jumped ahead with an eight-run rally. Ella McDowell opened the scoring with a two-run home run to left field. McLaine Hudson followed with a three-run homer, extending the lead to 5-0. Brooke Wells drove in two more runs with a single, while Ryan Allen capped off the inning with a sacrifice fly, bringing the score to 8-0.
The second inning saw USA continue their offensive onslaught, adding six more runs. Allen and Westra hit back-to-back solo home runs over the left field wall. Wells contributed with an inside-the-park home run. Three more runs scored on singles and a throwing error by Mexico, pushing the lead to 14-0.
In the third inning, the game ended when Wells walked, advanced to third on a double by McDowell, and scored on a groundout to the pitcher, enforcing the run-ahead rule and securing the 15-0 win for USA.
